05:47 pm - you boys like mexico?? This past week I went with my church's twenty-somethings group to build a house in La Carbonera, Mexico. Carbonera (a.k.a. the shit) is a small fishing town a couple of hours south of the border that was hit by all of the hurricanes last season. We drove to San Marcos on Friday and stayed in a church that night, and then drove the rest of the way on Saturday. The whole drive was sort of a blur because I have this, what I would call endearing, quality to be able to sleep through anything for any length of time. However, when we got to the border, it was the instant 45 degree rise in temperature and smell of fish and Penzoil that woke me. We slept above a church with no air conditioning and had to place all of our toilet paper in a bucket because the rudimentary septic system couldn't filter it. And occasionally all the water would stop running. But the whole trip was so rad because we played futbol (and were reamed), were invited to a birthday fiesta where we learned how to dance all mexican-like, and made friends with the village idiot who just happened to love Jose Cuervo and much as he loved Jesus, and BUILT A HOUSE. The group became so tight (and so sick) that we quickly were keeping track of each other's bowel movements - think of that what you will. I will say however, that upon returning, I have never been so excited to eat fiber.
Only in Mexico... 1. is it safer to lick the floors than the dogs 2. do plaids and stripes match 3. does a four-year old's birthday party have more drunk men than a gay bar on a Saturday night in America, and finally 4. can you go through an entire bottle of pepto-bismol in two days
The end of the summer is upon me. I'm going to be home only one more week, and then I'm going out with little to no "bang," unless shipping boxes and doing laundry count as a bang. Current Mood: good

12:33 pm I guess all this Project Runway watching is rubbing off on me - I just finished creating a shirt. It's like Dr. Frankenstein but much cooler because my shirt won't come to life, roam the countryside, and savagely kill people. Current Mood: hungry Current Music: The Cure

02:54 pm - It's Beatrice Blaine. There's this thing that happens while you're reading and are interrupted by an unexpected phone call or conversation, where, no matter how hard you try, it is impossible to re-concentrate on whatever you were reading before. The only thing you can think about is that conversation. Today was the third time that has happened to me this week. And finally, after struggling to remember the name of Amory's mother and whether she was an American, I was forced to put down my copy of "This Side of Paradise" and find something else to do. 09:00 pm I am now delicatessen-free. No more stupid colored t-shirts, little green numbers, short Asian managers, or seven kinds of mustard. Tonight (THE last night), a woman complained because her VEGGIE chili was too runny and asked where the "chunks of protein" were. gawd. Current Music: the world cup

01:27 pm - ma bro sitting in the game room listening to Scott record some songs that he's written for guitar. Kid's got talent - poppy/cathcy/Ryan Cabrerra kind of talent, but talent none the less.
Oh yeah! Big Bend was So. Much. Fun. I think collectively we have over 300 pictures of the trip. We threw rocks at Mexico from a cliff, slept outside under the stars, climbed a mountain, showered in pay-showers, watched a lightning storm atop of sand dunes, and overall smelled badly. A bigger and better trip is already in the works for next time!
I went to the doctor's this morning to get to a couple of shots for New Orleans and now have a series of Wile the Coyote band-aids on my upper arm.
"You remind me of home." Current Location: out of this world Current Mood: homesick Current Music: a song that Scott wrote

08:24 am I couldn't go back to sleep this morning because I had nightmares about sweeping floors. What is that all about?? srrsly. I'd like to see a dream interpreter have a crack at that one.
Needless to say, a majority of that last two weeks has been full of deli-working, and it is definitely subpar. Everyday (except for Thursday) there is always a point where I am sweeping/trash-dumping/whathaveyou where I have to convince myself NOT to quit on the spot. The logic goes something like this: "Man, this job blows. There are so many more worthwhile things I could be doing right now." "Yeah, that's totally true. I should quit. I don't need money. I can become a renessiance woman and learn to live off the land." "Yeah maybe, except for that's a total shit story." "Fair enough." "Anyway, I'm leaving in two weeks. Suck it up. It's not that bad, and I get free tea." This is the part where the manager usually interjects to tell me to clean the bathrooms. Oh man.
Note: I'M GOING CAMPING WITH REBECCA AND CARL IN BIG BEND NEXT WEEK!! Current Location: the green chair Current Mood: groggy Current Music: sounds of saturday morning lawnmowers (not the band)

09:56 pm - The first week of summer. What a disappointment. Although, I have secured a job at a sandwich place (employment - yes!). My first day was today, and I have this to say: first days of anything suck. It's fate. The first day of school, the first day of a job, the first day of Hanakah, the first day of the week. they. all. suck. Although it did get better as the day went on.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CASSIE! that's all. Current Mood: great Current Music: THE format

11:21 pm - Tomorrow I will... Wake up earlier than I have to. View the sweet ass Japanese video we made. Finish my combinatorics problem set in the Forum before class, then go to combinatorics. Meet with Professor Sullivan. Have a Grab and Go picnic on Cleveland beach again (it's hard to find a better way to spend my lunch hour). Do some laundering (boo)/read Economics (even worse). That hour and half will probably suck. Run with Colette. Make tye-dye shirts with Rachel, Victor, and sixth graders. Go for a bike ride to see what I find...or maybe nap...or maybe both at the same time! Play with Allison after dinner. Watch Capote. Re-hang up my posters (fucking duct tape). Hang out in Haines for Chris' birthday OR study - man. Go to bed because I am working at the Dick at 8 30! on Saturday.
...I had to make a list anyway, why not make an e-list?
I saw a racoon tonight. Current Location: the rug on the floor in my room Current Mood: James Dean is hawt.
